Boone W. Shear

I live in Easthampton MA and have an 18 year-old daughter. I am a facilitator and organizer of BSE. I am a Senior Lecturer in the Anthropology Department at the University of Massachusetts Amherst and teach the courses listed and described on this website. I am an activist anthropologist; my research and teaching is in dialogue and solidarity with communities and organizations who are organizing around well-being and interdependence. I am a researcher, teacher and learner, mentor and collaborator, and fellow traveler with BSE students. My interests and work involves critical investigations into the violence and limits of patriarchal capitalist modernity, as well as efforts to uncover, cultivate, and organize around hidden, suppressed, and emerging projects that advance other selves and other worlds. I am involved with a number of overlapping solidarity economy, mutual aid, and community initiatives.
