BSE engages with and writes towards multiple publics. We are in dialogue with academic audiences, policy-makers, organizers and activists, and the communities that we are a part of and work with. Some of this can be found and accessed through our “Current Research” page and some of it is produced through our collaborative, engaged coursework that you can access here.
In addition to writing and communications that are outcomes of organized research and collaborations, BSE edits a semi-regular column Becoming Human in the Amherst Indy, which highlights economic becomings and worlding projects.
And, BSE regularly hosts and facilitates community workshops, reading groups, and gatherings.
Community Workshops
In 2025-2026, BSE is organizing a series of Solidarity Workshops around different mutual aid efforts in the area. These include: timebanks, participatory budgeting, housing take-overs, gleaning, and more. Each workshop will be focused on existing efforts that we can learn from together, will offer opportunities to get involved, and aims to strengthen relationships in and between our communities.
All workshops are being held at Stone Soup, a pay-what-you-can community restaurant in Greenfield, MA, who is also providing dinner.

BSE Zines
We are also launching a project to create a series of zines illustrating and explaining solidarity practices, theory, and happenings intended for communities, classes, organizations and study groups. The first few issues are below. Use in your organizations, classrooms, communities, and friend groups. Download, print off, and share far and wide!
